Another reason Sheridan Institute illustration grads are awesome: we interview each other! In this case, I was the interviewee and the lovely Lisa Bell was the interviewer. Lisa and I really bonded one summer over boy bands, dresses and Motown clubbing. Oh yes, it was good times. See why I still find the need to count in Mandarin in this new interview.

I’m so excited to finally reveal this illustration! It was commissioned last October by my friend and Toronto fashion blogger Marcus Kan. As a contributor to Dolce & Gabbana’s official blog, he invited myself and five other illustrators to create artwork inspired by Dolce & Gabbana’s SS12 Womenswear collection. Here’s the feature with our illustrations and what we thought of the collection.

Having seen the collection, I must say it was love at first sight! I chose three of my favourite looks and turned each into a food-related scenario. (After all, Food Girls was my calling card for the longest time!) Since this collection looks it like it was plucked from vintage Italy, I illustrated the models all bubbly in unison leggy poses while enjoying Italian food that echoes each respective outfit.

Left to right: a gelato topped with sprinkles paired with the jewel-encrusted dress, a tomato and cheese panini for the tomato-print two piece, and an Italian soda, matching onions and flowers as groceries to go with the onions and flowers print outfit. All in a summer’s day in Italy! Details below:
